Stewart Family Reunion 2012

We just returned from the annual Stewart Family Reunion.  It is at least twice as fun as it sounds, and, in fact, we had so much fun at this year's reunion that we forgot to pull out our camera to document the excitement.  We did make a video for cousin Ty, who sadly was too sick to attend this year.

Thanks, mom, for another great reunion.  Thanks, Uncle Buck, for letting us stay in your amazing cabin in Beaver, Utah.  It's hard to beat Beaver, Utah, but we're still looking forward to next year's reunion here, mostly because we'll be all together and eating Tessa's amazing desserts again!

For some reason, this makes things feel so...

...official.

We're increasingly happy with our decision, but it was admittedly difficult to make this change.

Julie Day - 25 Weeks

Suzy bought this cute little dress in 2006 when we were living in Lyon, France.  She was so excited to dress her little girl in it, and even though we kept having boys, the little blue dress hung in our closet awaiting a little girl to bring it to life.  Suzy got her precious daughter, Julie got her pretty French dress, and the guy behind the camera couldn't believe how lucky he was to have such lovely, amazing ladies in his life.

Lake Powell

I took this photo of Gunsight Bay well after sunset one evening as I was walking Julie up and down the beach trying to get her to sleep.  I used a 30 second exposure, which makes everything look brighter than it was and combines all of the waves for a glossy effect on the water.  And eventually I even got Julie to sleep.

There's just something extremely satisfying about...

...growing your own zucchini and then using it to make zucchini bread.

It's only one of the ingredients in the loaf, but somehow its home-grown goodness still makes this treat even better.

We were thinking about what it would take to grow/create all of the ingredients for zucchini bread so that we could try a truly home-grown loaf, and that made us appreciate commerce.  But we do love having fresh fruit and veggies from our garden, and we're really excited because there is so much goodness still ripening out there (four kinds of squash, two kinds of potatoes, berries, apples, watermelon, carrots, cucumbers, corn, herbs, etc.).

Free Legal Advice: The Law of Love

"Unity of man and wife can never be created by law, but by nature; and where there is discord, no legal rules can create harmony."

Hatch v. Hatch, 46 Utah 116, 126 (Utah Supreme Court 1915).

Sorry folks, you're on your own.  But aren't you glad this advice was free?

4MM - Yesterday Was Hike Day (#4)

This month, the Four More Miles Club hiked to the Ogden Canyon Overlook from Snow Basin Ski Resort.  It was a lovely, family-friendly hike, and I think we were all pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the views were from the overlook.

Here are a couple photos that Tenny took from the top.

I like this picture of Tessa.  I call it "Light Freckles."

As always, if you're interested in joining us and would like to receive the emails with the details on upcoming hikes, just let us know.  Half of the fun is just being together (though I suppose you could also do that while sipping pina coladas poolside, but where's the fun in that?).

After 25 months, Tait gets his first...

...haircut.

We turned chaos into order, but only through much weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Happy Birthday, America!
